Darling Point, NSW
In 2015 various expert engineering reports identified water penetration, failed brick ties, broken and leaking widow issues with this early 1970s apartment block’s failing façade that was creating safety and structural issues. Unsure about how to deal with this unexpected but significant project undertaking, Reclad Australia project leader, Marco Dardano, helped guide the building’s owners’ corporation through various remedial options. After having all the options programmed and costed, the owners’ corporation approved the longer term strategy of a building uplift with a new unitised curtain wall system, additional penthouse dwelling, new external carpark lift and awning. Design documentation is currently being completed for development application with Woollahra Council in March 2021. The works are forecast to commence in late 2021.
